Heat Policy

Heatwave.jpg

The safety and wellbeing of our community, volunteers, performers, stallholders and visitors is our priority. To reduce health risks associated with extreme heat, the Loxton Mardi Gras monitors official weather forecasts issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM)

If the BOM forecast for Loxton predicts a maximum temperature of 42°C or higher for event day, as confirmed at 5:00 pm on the Tuesday prior, the Heat Policy will be activated

In this situation, all activities on the day of the Mardi Gras Parade will be brought forward by one (1) hour from their scheduled times

Any changes will be communicated as soon as practicable via our website, social media channels, direct stakeholder communications, and local radio. This policy is reviewed regularly to ensure it remains appropriate and effective
